We are pleased to share the publication of our new research article in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases:
“Risk of post-acute symptoms and conditions after SARS-CoV-2 compared with other respiratory viral infections: a systematic review and meta-analysis.”
The study compares the risk of persistent symptoms and health conditions following SARS-CoV-2 infection with those observed after other acute respiratory viral infections.
The study was based on 22 cohort studies, with 14 contributing to the meta-analysis. Among findings emerged an increased risks after SARS-CoV-2 infection for several specific outcomes.
These results contribute to the understanding of post-COVID-19 condition within the broader spectrum of post-acute infection syndromes, highlighting both shared and pathogen-specific mechanisms.
